Mathematical Modelling and Game Theory: A Rational Choice for the Social Sciences?Politics Section Department of Humanities Chisholm Institute of Technology The purpose of this article is to set out and assess some of the claims of the new rational choice Marxists. My argument is that there is good reason for social theorists to take these claims ser iously and that rational choice theory and mathematical mod elling have wider application than is usually thought possible. I also express some reservations about possible strong versions of the rational choice approach.
